Youth Jazz Band
June 5 - August 14, Thursday nights 7 - 8:30
Open to all instruments and vocals, ages 12-18. Students will play jazz music in a small ensemble setting. Students will learn to improvise their own parts from chord charts, including solos, in a stylistically appropriate way. Participation is subject to teacher approval.

Youth Rock Band
June 6 - August 15, Friday nights 6 - 7:30
Open to guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and vocals, ages 12-18. Students will learn to play rock and pop songs from chord charts and tablature. Students will learn techniques for figuring out songs by ear and become familiar with basic song structure. Participation is subject to teacher approval.

Strum-Along Class
June 7 - August 11, Saturday mornings 10 - 11
Open to adults and teens ages 12 and older. Bring your acoustic instrument - guitar, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, acoustic bass - and enjoy strumming and singing simple songs in a fun, casual setting. There are no skill requirements for the class, but students should be familiar with how to play a few basic chords on their instrument.

Youth Music Theory
June 4 - August 13, Wednesday mornings 10 - 12
Open to teens ages 14-18. Students will learn the rules for forming three and four note chords, major and minor scales, and how chords relate to each other within a song, as well as the basics of composition and improvisation. This course will use the Berklee Music Theory Books 1 & 2 as well as additional supplemental materials (included). This is an excellent course for students wanting to prepare for college-level study, or any musician wanting a deeper understanding of music. Students should be able to read music before signing up for this class. This is a pen-and-paper class, no instruments are required.
