Spector Icon NS Neck Through – The Signature Spector Recipe
In Summer 2025, we introduced the Icon NS Bolt On series with a simple goal: to bring the unmistakable Spector experience to more players than ever before. From longtime fans to a new generation of bassists discovering Spector for the first time, the Icon Bolt On series quickly became a new expression of what our instruments have always been known for - inspiring tone and effortless playability. Building on that success, we’re now adding the final ingredient to the classic Spector recipe: neck through construction. Introducing the Spector Icon NS Neck Through series.
Neck through construction has been part of the Spector story from the very beginning. Emerging in the 1970s during the height of the boutique bass era, this design approach helped define the sound and feel of modern basses. It offered players greater sustain, enhanced resonance, and a more connected feel from the first fret to the last. With the Icon NS Neck Through series, we’re carrying that tradition forward in a new line built for today’s player.
Designed in Woodstock, NY, the Icon NS Neck Through models bring together the details that make a Spector unmistakable: our fully curved body shape, custom shop neck carve, and signature crown inlays. Each bass features alder body wings paired with a 3-piece maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, a classic tonewood combination that sits perfectly in any gig. With its neck through construction you can expect the sustain, stability, and responsiveness that have made neck through Spectors iconic.
Visually, the Icon NS Neck Through series draws inspiration from our custom builds. Each model is topped with highly figured quilted maple and finished in one of four gloss stain options: Black Stain, Haunted Moss, Purple Cherry, and Black and Blue. Gold hardware completes the look, including a fully intonating locking bridge, high-precision tuners, polished brass nut, and signature Spector control knobs. The series is available in both 4-string, 34" scale and 5-string, 35" scale configurations.
At the heart of each Icon NS Neck Through is a custom-voiced Aguilar electronics package, pairing Aguilar DCB pickups with an Aguilar OBP-2 preamp. This combination delivers deep, punchy lows, articulate mids, and crystal-clear highs, giving players a dynamic and musical voice that sits confidently in any mix. First heard in our Icon Bolt-On line, this electronics setup has quickly become a favorite, and it feels right at home in the new neck through platform. The 4-string models feature a Reverse P/J pickup configuration, while the 5-string models are equipped with dual soapbar pickups.
From the first note, the Icon NS Neck Through feels deeply connected to Spector’s past while looking firmly toward the future. Whether on stage, in the studio, or anywhere inspiration strikes, it delivers the bold, powerful tone, and performance-driven design that have defined Spector basses for 50 years.
